Not sure which sealant will work best? Check out our recommendation below to decide what product will give you long-lasting, durable wear, then speak with our team about coordinating your ongoing supply.

Adhesive Alternatives: Clear Sealants

Polyurethane Sealants (also referred to as a clear caulking sealant/adhesive, or silicone caulk) is an organic material that differs in its make-up and uses from standard silicone. It’s a strong-bonding, fasting-acting sealant that’s best used in areas that need high moisture resistance. This means you can use polyurethane both indoors and out.

What’s the difference between polyurethane and silicone? Check this out:

  • Polyurethane Sealant: An organic material with excellent adhesive strength. These can retain their shape after being bent, stressed or pulled, and provide excellent waterproofing and water-sealing properties.
  • Silicone Caulk: A non-organic, man-made substance. This is an all-in-one solution, especially in areas with high UV exposure. As a non-organic material, silicone can stand up to ongoing UV rays without losing its form, whereas polyurethane is likely to lose its shape after prolonged exposure.

Both fast-acting and strong adhesives, silicone and polyurethane can provide the flexibility needed for high-moisture areas. It’s silicone, though, that will likely give you a longer shelf-life if the area being treated is to be exposed to ongoing UV rays.
